About
Jakub Tytykalo graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in the Graphics Studio of Jiří Lindovský. During his studies, he completed internships in the drawing studio of Jiří Petrbok, the sculpture studio of Jaroslav Róna, and under the Erasmus program he visited the painting studio at the University of Madrid.
His studies at the Academy of Fine Arts in Prague were marked by the search for a visual language and a form suitable for expressing various relationships and thought flows. Recently, he has been developing the topic of thinking towards the subconscious and its penetration into the external reality: he notes the expressions and gestures that penetrate the surface from the depths below the level of conscious action. The drawings combine journal entries, hidden meanings and references, dreams, visions, situations and human torso metamorphosed into bizarre collages. By linking the theme of the physical and intangible character of the world, it refers to the common origin of things, the illusory nature of matter and other layers of consciousness.
